Super idea and beautifully done, sOOOz
The kids are the best but couldn't resist chiming in
EX is outside or former (as in spouse)
URB is urban or urbane
IA is misspelled abbreviation for area or more likely correct abbreviation for aria.
Multiple choice
_A place in the countryside, typically with sumptuous picnics, where arias are sung, like Glyndebourne
_A place outside a city often with tacky nuances
_A sophisticated place that used to be a city
_A former city that had an amphitheatre for opera, like Carthage

It appears that exurbia is also paradise. What beautiful photos too!! I've always dreamt of living in a place like that (not necessarily Malibu) where it's tranquil and beautiful and you have a pool (for some reason as a kid a pool always signified the ultimate in success)and yet being close enough to the city hub. Enjoyed Lily, Max and Hanna's contribution to the blog. Nice work!

Love the pictures, and love the area! I'm seeing this not as an 'exurbia' phenomenon, though.

Malibu -- last there in September -- is a stretch of beach with really nice homes having access to the main coast highway (now called PCH, not so when I was young).

Culturally, it's something of an artist's colony, a movie colony. It symbolizes that, mostly, not so? Despite the funky-ish look of some fish houses, we're talking 'pricey place'.

Not 'rich Westside suburb' like nearby Pacific Palisades, but not 'we-love-our-tenants' 'move-in-ready' low cost housing.

The home of Max/Hanna/Lily looks well-designed, perched on the coastal hills with sunset views. Maybe in one of the canyons. Maybe Topanga.

I believe about 7,508,223 people with 'HGTV envy' might weep a week or die as their self-esteem dropped like a dead-man's blood pressure -- just to set foot in the place.

Well. Enough cheap struggling middle-class talk.

I'm a guy who left skin under the water at the beaches near Zuma.

Exurb. For L.A., I'm thinking Santa Clarita?

Thank you for the chance to see my old summer playground. Enjoy it!
