Res 2: 15 minutes early, wait around the corner, bring a book.

Res 3: 3 days weights, 5-7 days cardio. (Yikes! This does take time!)

Res 4: Day job. They’re more than they’re cracked up to be, unless a) they’re NOT challenging and easy to execute beyond a boss’s complaints; or b) they’re among the rare kind that are fulfilling in and of themselves (like writing, like acting — neither of which, as you imply, count as ‘day jobs’)

Res 5: Read a lot? It’s a kind of investment?

Thanks, as always, for your thoughtful, personal and supportive commentary, Trulyfool. You spoke too soon, though. Blog post wasn’t quite done. I know, I know, I outta finish, wait a day before posting. I don’t have that kinda patience, tho. Am also an obsessive perfectionist. If you have the time, and inclination, hope you’ll read the revised version and share your thoughts. My Neruoeconomics Politiku also touches on these things. Hopefully the Huffpo editorial staff’ll edit it and post it soon.

Your energy has been a tonic for me, and an example.

I admire your professionalism; I don’t envy the sacrifice it requires.

Money doesn’t and can’t drive my writing, which just forms phrases and ideas, which in turn form me.

Part of what you must do needs a ‘killing edge’. More is ostensibly at stake, and any competition can’t simply be dismissed — it must be served or cowed or co-opted, if not vanquished.

We just today sent-off our daughter on a plane back to L.A., to an apartment not far from the Malibu of your resolution. She, too, is contending in the entertainment biz, in her case the production end of things. The good dreams are at this shore of the Pacific.

A New Year’s gratitude, then, to you for including me in this phase of your work.
